This year's events were inspired by HGTV’s Smart Home series, CES, CEDIA and many other emerging Smart Home innovations. Each year, Smart Home Week showcases the latest trends in home and real estate technology, architecture and design with emphasis on sustainable and elevated living experiences.

Growing up the son of a contractor, Phil Kean aspired to be an architect from the age of 11. Studying at prestigious Harvard University and Washington University, Phil earned his Masters of Architecture (MArch) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA). He is a Licensed Architect (AR95091), Certified Residential Contractor (CRC1327855), Licensed Interior Designer (ID6290), and Certified Green Professional. Phil is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Institute of Building Design (AIBD), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), past-president of Central Florida’s Master Custom Builder Council (MCBC), on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), member of the Greater Orlando Builders Association (GOBA), Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), U.S. Green Building Council Central Florida Chapter (USGBC), and serves on the Historic Preservation Board for the City of Winter Park, FL.
With a calm, genuine demeanor and an honest, trustworthy approach, Phil’s intuitive nature and light-hearted personality allow him to effortlessly guide clients through a seamless PKDG design/build process. An expert at spatial, functional and sustainable design, his projects have received numerous design awards and international recognition. Phil’s uncanny listening ability allows him to translate a client’s vision to a sketch on paper in the initial meeting. Dedicated to exceeding his client expectations, Phil believes in a “never say no” design philosophy that encourages evolving the design throughout the design/build process. This philosophy allows for the perfection of a design aesthetic or function.
With a reach that extends nationally and internationally, Phil’s design projects can be found throughout the United States, the Bahamas, Spain and Ghana, West Africa. Though well known for his modern and contemporary designs, Phil is passionate about all styles of architecture with previously designed homes ranging from Spanish Mediterranean to French country, West Indies to colonial, and traditional.
Passionate about supporting the local arts, Phil is a patron of both The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and UCF’s Flying Horse Arts Program. An accomplished runner, Phil has a personal goal of running marathons in each of our 50 states completing 41 to date. More on this to come!
